Died March 28, 1943, Beverly Hills, California. Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18 Rachmaninov composed his Second Piano Concerto in 1900–1901 and was soloist for the first performance on November 9, 1901, in Moscow. When I took up the violin in my adult years, I shifted to listening to almost exclusively violin-based classical music, the concertos, quartets, sonatas, preludes.
